River Arts Alliance and the Minnesota Marine Art Museum are proud to announce Flora & Fauna-The Plein Air Experience, 2023, September 28 – October 1, 2023, hosted at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, in Winona, MN. This weekend of workshops, demos, exhibitions, presentations and public programs centered around the Upper Mississippi’s flora and fauna will be Winona’s first plein-air event.

The first component of the event involves three artists selected to teach plein-air workshops on Friday and Saturday. Kami Mendlik will teach oils, and Fred Somers will teach pastels. David Smith will teach watercolor.

The second component involves 10 featured artists painting and demoing on Friday and Saturday for public viewing. The MMAM Atrium will be used to exhibit two paintings from each of these 10 featured artists. They will be introduced at the Thursday evening kick-off and encouraged to mingle and talk about their work en plein-air with guests.

The third component involving all artists is the final exhibit and sale, which will include paintings done over the weekend in the Oberton Education Room at MMAM on Sunday morning.
